A one-day workshop on Stamping Out Corruption in a Rebranding Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, is being organised by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) NSCDC, Abia State.
The programme will hold on Thursday, 6th March, 2025 at the NSCDC Hall, State Command Umuahia by 11 am.
According to the head ACTU Unit NSCDC Abia State Command, Assistant Corps Commandant (ACC) Joan Njideka Nzeh, the workshop programme is aimed at educating officers on the importance and functions of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit in fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in the corps.
ACC Njideka Ezeh noted that a robust and effective anti-corruption and transparency unit within an organisation plays a crucial role in preventing and combating corruption, which she describes as an impediment to national development.
She added that the workshop programme will help create awareness within the corps about corruption related issues, and in providing the officers with information about the ACTU, its role in promoting transparency and accountability and the importance of individual contributions in the fight against corruption.
At the end of the sensitization programme, participants should be able to understand corruption and its negative impacts, identify different forms of corruption and understand the role of the ACTU in preventing and combating corruption, as well as recognise their individual responsibilities in promoting transparency and accountability.
